Kenta Maeda played catch at a distance of about fifty meters during workouts on Saturday (about thirty throws).

Maeda is scheduled to start tonight's game.  Hirokazu Sawamura is expected to relieve him.

Atsushi Nomi intentionally used old/dirty baseballs during workouts in January because he wanted to get used to throwing balls with bad grips.

Shinnosuke Abe attempted to steal third when he reached second in the 8th inning.  While the result did not matter since Hayato Sakamoto fouled the pitch off, the fact that he ran on his own could be a good indication that his right knee really has gotten better.
