Seventy-nine players attended the annual NPB Rookie Seminar in Tokyo today. The seminar lasted over four hours and included lectures on organized crime, doping, taxes, and public speaking/media.
- Tomoaki Kanemoto was a guest lecturer and spoke to players about his career. He stressed hard work and a positive attitude.
- Former Nippon Hoso radio announcer Hiroshi Fukasawa was in charge of the segment on public speaking/media.
- 1st round draft pick Tomoyuki Sugano (YOM), 1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami (HAN), 1st round draft pick Shohei Ontani (HAM), and 1st round draft pick Nao Higashihama (SOF) were selected to take short mock interviews.
- Fujinami and 1st round draft pick Shohei Otani (HAM) did not appear to spend any time talking to each other during the seminar.
UPDATE 3/5 @ 10:19pm - Four players did not attend the seminar due to various reasons. They will be required to take the seminar next year, or sometime thereafter. A total six topics were covered.
