Hisashi Takeda received treatment for acute otitis media the same day he was diagnosed with it on Wednesday.  He was feeling better on Thursday and threw sixty pitches in the bullpen.

Naoki Miyanishi skipped workouts again on Thursday with acute gastroenteritis.

1st round draft pick Shohei Otani is scheduled to pitch in an exhibition game against Rakuten at Tokyo Dome on the 21st.  Team officials are currently thinking about whether or not they should allow him to take over on defense after he is taken out of the game as a pitcher.

Otani is also is expected to throw forty to fifty pitches during a Kyoiku League game against Yakult on the 10th.

Otani played in a Kyoiku League game against Seibu today.  He was the starting DH and batted third.  He went 2-for-4 with an RBI: run-scoring double to left of Shota Takekuma in the 1st inning and an infield single off Kazuki Miyata in the 6th.

The Fighters announced today that their new scoreboard at Kamagaya was complete and will be used for the first time during a Kyoiku League game against Yakult on the 10th.

Matsuo Jingisukan is planning to present the first pitcher that hits 160km/h on the new speed gun at Kamagaya 160 plates of jingisukan.

Softbank Hawks

Shota Oba started a Kyoiku League game against Hiroshima on Thursday and did not allow a run or a hit over five innings of work.  He threw all his pitches out of the set position and topped out at 144km/h.

Oba was demoted to Ni-gun spring camp after he overslept and got to practices late on February 9.

Koji Akiyama took thrity-two swings during pre-game batting practice on Thursday.  He did not hit any over the fence, but did hit one off the upper portion of the fence in left.

Rakuten Eagles

Wataru Karashima is scheduled to start an exhibition game against Yakult at Kurashiki on Saturday.  He has so far given up five runs over nine innings in two exhibition game starts.

The Marines decided to send Takashi Ogino to Ni-gun today because of lower back pain.

G.G. Sato has been working out at Ni-gun.  He is expected to join the Ichi-gun team on the 12th.

Clean-up hitter candidates include Tadahito Iguchi, Josh Whitesell, Shoitsu Omatsu, and Ikuhiro Kiyota.

Tsutomu Ito told reporters after Thursday's exhibition game that Iguchi could see more time as a clean-up hitter.

Iguchi had been working out in Chiba since parting with the Ichi-gun group at the end of February.  His practices started at 8:30am and included close to 200 swings during batting practice everyday.  He rejoined the Ichi-gun team on Thursday for an exhibition game against Lotte at Koshien.

The Buffaloes announced that Dae-Ho Lee arrived in Japan today.  He will join the team on Saturday.
