The Central League (CL) submitted their proposal for a shorter Inter-league Series during an executive committee meeting on Thursday.  The CL is pushing to reduce the number of games each team plays from twenty-four to eighteen because the current schedule (two game series) has too many non-game days.  The Pacific League (PL) is taking the proposal under consideration.

The committee also consented to sending the Nippon Series winner to the Asia Series (Taiwan) in November.

Up until this year, the CL and PL had a different set of qualifications for determining the winner of the Most Valuable Pitcher Award (最優秀投手賞) -- the CL presented the award to the pitcher named to the Best Nine team while the PL issued the award to the pitcher that recorded the highest winning percentage with at least thirteen victories.  On Thursday, the CL decided to adopt the qualifications used by the PL.  The two leagues also decided to rename the award to the Highest WPCT Award (勝率第1位投手賞).
