Morimichi Takagai was not happy about the team's 7-1 loss to Seibu on Saturday at Gifu and ignored reporters as he walked out of the stadium and hopped into a cab (he did not ride the team bus).

Takuya Asao threw fifty pitches in the bullpen at Nagoya Stadium on Saturday.  He also threw to squatting catcher for the first time since he was cut from Samurai Japan.  He told reporters that he was at about eighty to ninety percent.

Kazuo Ito will be sent down to Ni-gun for more work.  He pitched against Nippon Ham on Saturday and gave up two runs on four hits and three walks over two innings of work.

Kazuya Tsutsui began rehab on his left shoulder on Saturday.  He will not do anything throw for about a week.  The team plans to take things slow with him and will not push him to be ready for opening day.

The Tigers unveiled a new monument in Mizuno Park outside Koshien Stadium today that commemorates Tomoaki Kanemoto's two consecutive games/innings records -- consecutive games without missing an inning (904) and consecutive innings played (1,492).

Yokohama Bay Stars

Yoshitomo Tsutsugo hurt his left ankle while rounding second base in the 8th inning of today's exhibition game against Hiroshima and was later taken to a hospital in Shunan, Yamaguchi for an examination.  He will get a full exam at a hospital in Yokohama on Tuesday.  Tsutsugo was seen using crutches when boarding the train.
