Ryosuke Miyaguni has been pitching well enough to get the opening day start -- he has given up just one run over thirteen innings in three exhibition games. His next start will likely be against Seibu at Tokyo Dome on the 20th. After that, it could be the opening day start against Hiroshima on the 29th.
3rd round draft pick Takeru Furumoto was diagnosed with the flu Tuesday; Akihiro Maeda on Monday.
Masahiro Yamamoto was also diagnosed with the flu on Tuesday.
All three players have the A strain.
Kentaro Nishikawa will be demoted to Ni-gun after another rocky start on Monday -- vs Yomiuri, four runs on five hits over two innings of work.
With the three-and-a-half hour rule gone, Yuhei Takai could end up taking the mound this year if asked -- he initially turned down the idea because he wanted to focus on his transition to a position player, but recently said he would pitch if told to.

Kenta Kurihara joined the Ichi-gun team at Mazda Stadium for workouts on Tuesday. He wore a nose guard during practices and later told reporters that it got in the way and that he would not use it on Wednesday.
