Yomiuri Giants

Daisuke Ochi pitched in a Ni-gun game against Yakult today.  He tossed a shutout inning in relief and topped out at 143km/h.  It was his first outing in about a year -- he was diagnosed with ossification of the yellow ligament and went under the knife in June last year.

Ryosuke Yagi is still a possibility for the starting rotation.  Where he ends up pitching may ultimately depend on Orlando Roman.

Hiroki Uemoto started playing catch and took soft-toss batting practice today.  He is making his way back from a left ankle injury.

Uemoto played catch at a distance between ten to fifteen meters for about ten minutes and swung at seventy baseballs.

Yuya Ando gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits over an inning in relief during a Kyoiku League game against Chunichi on Sunday.  He also struck out two.

Ando had some problems with tightness in his left hamstring during spring camp and got off to a slow start.  He should now be ok for Ichi-gun.

Yokohama Bay Stars
