Seibu Lions

Takayuki Kishi will get the opening day start on the 29th against Nippon Ham at Seibu Dome.  Kishi is slated to start Friday's exhibition game against Yokohama at Yokohama.

Kazuhisa Makita, Hideaki Wakui, and Ginjiro Sumitani returned to workouts on Thursday.

Softbank Hawks

All six players that participated in the WBC, including Seiichi Uchikawa, Tadashi Settsu, and Nobuhiro Matsuda, rejoined the team on Thursday.

Settsu is scheduled to throw about eighty pitches in an exhibition game start against Hiroshima at YafuOkda Dome on the 23rd.

Shota Takeda recorded four of five strikeouts in an exhibition game start against Lotte on Wednesday with a fork ball.  He did not throw the pitch last season and instead used a slider as his out pitch.

Yuya Hasegawa played in his first Ichi-gun game on Wednesday since he suffered a cranial depressed fracture on February 23.  He had a protective pad taped to the right portion of the forehead.

Masahiro Tanaka and Kazuo Matsui returned to practices on Thursday.

Tanaka threw about forty pitches in the bullpen.

Masahiko Tanaka was ejected from a Ni-gun game against Yokohama on the 20th for insulting an umpire.  Tanaka was fined 50,000 yen and issued a stern warning by NPB commissioner Ryozo Kato on Thursday.

Orix Buffaloes

Chihiro Kaneko faced Ryoichi Adachi and Takayoshi Kawabata during situational batting practice on Thursday and topped out at 145km/h.  If he does not suffer any setbacks, he might be able return to the Ichi-gun team before the end of April.
