Seth Greisinger left today's exhibition game against Chunichi early because of discomfort in his right shoulder.
"I do not think [Greisinger] will be able to start the second game of the season. Even if he says he is ok, I cannot let him throw. It is close to the area he felt pain in during spring camp. He said he felt something when throwing the change. I was worried because he had not pitched in any exhibition games. I thought it was a possibility, so I am not surprised. This means pitchers like [Yuji] Nishino and [Tomohisa] Otani will have a chance. I would like to see them step up," said Tsutomu Ito.
Greisinger is scheduled to report to Ni-gun on Sunday.
