Chihiro Kaneko worked out with the team at Kyocera Dome today.  He will apparently be able to make a start during the opening series (vs Lotte at QVC Marine, 29th-31st).  He told reporters that he expects to make his next outing at Ichi-gun.  He did toss situational batting practice on the 21st.

Keiichi Hirano and Takahiro Mahara did not make the opening day roster.

Shinya Nakayama threw sixty-two pitches in the bullpen at Hotto Motto on Monday.  He could end up becoming the sixth starter in the opening day rotation.

The first five pitchers could be: Yuki NishiShun TonoTomoyuki KaidaAlessandro Maestri, and Brandon Dickson.

Takahiro Okada tried a one-legged approach to hitting during the off-season, but had a hard time getting the timing down and went back to the slide step.  He likes the power potential of the one-legged approach, but understands that timing is an important part to hitting.
