Nippon Ham Fighters

1st round draft pick Shohei Otani threw seventy-five pitches in the bullpen before today's game against Seibu.

Hideki Kuriyama sent Tomohiro Nioka to pinch-hit for Otani on Saturday in the 6th inning because he wanted a big hit and liked the veteran's chances.  It was not necessarily a move he made because it was Otani's turn at the plate.

Seibu Lions

Yusei Kikuchi struck out Nippon Ham Fighter 1st round draft pick Shohei Otani twice on Saturday.  Of the thirteen pitches he threw to the rookie, six were sliders.

Bryan LaHair worked on his bunts during pre-game practices today.

Said batting coach Hiroshi Fujimoto, "Must be something [LaHair] wanted to work on.  He will not get the sign to bunt."

Chiba Lotte Marines

The Marines recorded back-to-back extra-inning walk-off victories to start the season (Friday and Saturday).

- The eighth team in NPB history to win their first two games of the season on walk-offs, the first since Softbank in 2008.
- The second team in franchise history to win their first two games of the season on walk-offs (1969).
- The third team in NPB history to win their first two games of the season on extra-inning walk-offs (Toei in 1962 and Yomiuri in 1990).
- The second team in PL history to record two consecutive extra-inning walk-off victories, from the start of the season or otherwise (Crown Lighter in 1978).
