Nippon Ham Fighters

Hideki Kuriyama will, for the time being, limit 1st round draft pick Shohei Otani to a pinch-hitting role on days he tosses bullpen sessions and ices his arm down during pre-game workouts because he wants to avoid making him throw too much.

Otani is expected to return to the starting line-up on Tuesday.  He will likely toss two bullpen sessions before a Ni-gun start against Lotte on the 9th.

Otani worked out at Kamagaya on Monday.  His day included weight training and taking about 150 swings with the bat.
