Yomiuri Giants

The Giants will be giving away special limited edition baseball cards at twelve home games this year: April 16-18 (vs Hanshin at Tokyo Dome), April 23 (vs Yokohama at Hotto Motto), April 24 (vs Yokohama at Kyocera Dome), April 25 (vs Yokohama at Nagaragawa), May 3-5 (vs Hiroshima at Tokyo Dome), and May 6-8 (vs Hanshin at Tokyo Dome).

A Shigeo Nagashima / Hideki Matsui card will be given away on May 5.

Hanshin Tigers

With Ryota Arai out, the Tigers need to decide on a new clean-up hitter.  Takahira Arai and Matt Murton are two possibilities.

Murton batted clean-up today for the first time since May 28 (vs Seibu at Koshien).  Excluding today's game, he is 13-for-39 in nine games when batting fourth.

T. Arai made the starting line-up today for the first time since October 9, 2012 (vs Yokohama).  He got the start at first and batted sixth.

1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami threw forty to fifty pitches in the bullpen at Mazda Stadium on Saturday.

Hiroaki Saiuchi joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts at Mazda Stadium on Saturday and threw thirty-four pitches in the bullpen.  He was added to the active roster today and will be used in relief.

Kazuya Tsutsui threw fifty-eight pitches in the bullpen at Naruohama on Saturday.  He later spoke to reporters and said that his left shoulder was fine and that he was ready to pitch.  Assuming no problems, he could either toss batting practice or situational batting practice on the 9th.

Yokohama Bay Stars

Alex Ramirez has an interest in obtaining Japanese citizenship after retirement.

Ramirez is thinking about using some of the money from the foundation he set up this year to plant 2,000 cherry blossom tress in the Tohoku region.  He is also considering more school visits, baseball clinics, and invitations to watch games/eat at his cafe.
