Otani could play in a rehab Ni-gun game as early as the 29th against Yokohama at Kamagaya.  If things go well, he could then return to the active roster in early May.  Assuming no setbacks after that, he could pitch in a Ni-gun rehab game as early as May 6 against Yomiuri at Giants Stadium.

Softbank Hawks

1st round draft pick Nao Higashihama decided to shift the bullpen session he normally throws one day before his starts to two days before his starts so that he can throw a little more.

"If I toss a bullpen session a day before my start, there is a limit to how many pitches I can throw.  If the session does not go well, I end going into my start [with that feling].  If I throw a session two days before my start, that gives me an extra day to play catch and check on things," said Higashihama.

Sponichi notes that Higashihama threw about fifty pitches during the bullpen he tossed before his last start on the 11th.  They also note that while most NPB starters throw about forty to sixty pitches two days before their starts, he is planning to throw about 100 pitches.

Wily Mo Pena has a lucky frog figurine.  Pena started making better contact with the ball and the team started winning when he moved it to the dugout on the 13th.  The frog is now with the team in Sendai.
