1st round draft pick Shohei Otani (right ankle inversion sprain) worked out for about two and a half hours on Wednesday.  The swelling in his ankle is beginning to go away.

Otani started taking soft-toss batting practice on Wednesday -- hit about eighty-four balls.  He also ran for about twenty-minutes and played catch at a distance of around thirty meters.  If he continues to improve at his current pace, he could play in his first rehab game as a position player some time later next week.  Perhaps as early as the 23rd against Seibu at Seibu 2 Stadium.

Otani did much of the same today: light running, played some catch, took some soft-toss batting practice.
