Yomiuri Giants

The Giants have won ten or more games in a row at Tokyo Dome during the course of the regular four times: eleven games between June and July 2012; and ten games each between June and August 1989, August and September 2008, and March and April 2013.  Their longest home winning streak of fifteen games was set at Korakuen between April and June 1983.

Tony Barnette was not happy about a safe call made by the second base ump in the 11th inning of Wednesday night's game against Chunichi -- Hector Luna hit a grounder to third with runners on first and second and two out; Shinya Miyamoto took a couple steps back while moving to his left, fielded the ball, and threw to second; the runner on first slid into second and was ruled safe by the umpire; meanwhile, the runner on second rounded third and came around to score (second baseman Ryosuke Morioka thought the play at second was an out and was late in making the throw to home).  The situation got worse when Yusuke Matsui followed Luna with home run to left.

"I should have thrown to first because I took a couple steps back [when fielding the ball].  That was my fault.  I feel bad for what I did to Tony," said Miyamoto to reporters after the game.
