Brooks Conrad was taken off the active roster today because of his struggles at the plate.  Through nineteen games, he was 9-for-50 with eighteen strikeouts.

"Things are not necessarily bad for [Conrad].  But there are some adjustments he needs to make with his swing.  First, he needs to get back on track emotionally.  He is pushing too hard and is swinging at balls outside the zone.  We want him to relax," said Yutaka Wada.

1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami joined Toshiaki Moriyasu (1966) and Daisuke Matsuzaka (1999) as the only rookie pitchers since the start of the draft to record two victories in the month of April.  Fujinami is the first to accomplish the feat in the CL.  He has a shot to set a new record if he wins his next start on the 28th (vs Yokohama).
