1st round draft pick Shohei Otani tossed a bullpen session on Saturday: thirty to a standing catcher and thirteen to a squatting catcher.

Daily Sports counted forty pitches to a standing catcher and thirteen to a squatting catcher.  Otani also took forty-four swings during batting practice.

Otani played in a Ni-gun game against Yokohama today.  He was the starting DH and batted third.  He went 0-for-4: ground out to second, ground out to short, ground out to second, ground out to second (double play).

Atsunori Inaba played in a Ni-gun game against Yokohama on Saturday.  He was the starting DH and batted fourth.  He went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.

The Ni-gun Fighters ended their fourteen-game losing streak by beating the Ni-gun Yokohama Bay Stars 5-3 on Saturday.

Softbank Hawks

Vicente Padilla is scheduled to pitch in a San-gun game against the Tokushima Indigo Socks (Shikoku Island League) on the 30th.  It will be his first game in about a month (right shoulder tightness).  He is slated to toss three innings, or about forty pitches.

If everything goes well, he could start a Ni-gun game against Orix on May 5.

6th round draft pick Hirofumi Yamanaka was taken off the active roster today after another bad start -- he gave up five runs (four earned) on four hits and five walks over three innings of work.

Rakuten Eagles

Yoshinao Kamata started a Ni-gun game against Seibu at Kleenex Stadium on Saturday.  He threw 140 pitches in tossing a complete game, topped out at 147km/h, struck out ten, and gave up four runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks.

2nd round draft pick Takahiro Norimoto became the second rookie pitcher in franchise history to record two victories before the end of April.  The other was Satoshi Nagai in 2007.

Kazuya Takahori accidentally threw the game ball from the team's 500th victory into the stands on Saturday.  Motohiro Shima managed to retrieve by calling into the crowd.

As of Saturday, the Eagles were 500-628-31.  Under Senichi Hoshino: 144-150-17.

Tsutomu Ito recorded his 300th managerial victory on Saturday.

Through Saturday, Ito was 300-236-5 (287 victories with Seibu and 13 with Lotte).  He is the fifty-ninth manager (sixth active manager) to reach the 300 win milestone.
