Yomiuri Giants

Taishi Ota did not play on Wednesday because of pain in his right hamstring.  He was taken off the active roster today.

Yusuke Nomura started a Ni-gun game against Orix today.  He allowed a run on four hits over seven innings of work and struck out eight.

The Tigers will likely go with five starters during Inter-league play.  That should include Atsushi Nomi, Randy Messenger, Jason Standridge, and 1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami.

Hayata Ito went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a Ni-gun game against Softbank at Naruhohama on Wednesday before getting a pinch-hit at bat (strikeout) in an Ichi-gun game against Hiroshima at Koshien.

Nomi (taken off active roster on April 24 with a broken left middle fingernail) tossed a bullpen session in front of Yutaka Wada, head coach Masahiro Kuroda, and Ichi-gun pitching coach Kiyooki Nakanishi on Wednesday.  He threw ninety-six pitches.  He is currently on track to start an Ichi-gun game on the 6th against Yomiuri at Tokyo Dome.

Brooks Conrad played in a Ni-gun game on Wednesday against Softbank (it was his first full game since he was taken off the active roster).  He started at third and batted third.  He went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts.

Norihiro Nakamura opted not to have a celebration after his 2,000th career hit on Wednesday because he does not count the five hits he collected while playing in the Majors.
