The First Georgia Award for 2013 went to Ryota Wakiya for his two-run single against Hiroshima on March 29.
The Giants were trailing the Hiroshima Carp 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th. With two out and runners on second and third, Wakiya laced a single to right off Takeru Imamura that pushed both runners across the plate. The Giants ultimately won the 4-3. This was a significant game for Wakiya, not just because of the game-winning hit, but also because it was his first Ichi-gun game in over a year -- he spent all of 2012 working his way back from reconstructive surgery in his right elbow.
