Yomiuri Giants

The Giants could move to a five-man rotation when Inter-league play begins.  Ryosuke Miyaguni could end up being the odd man out after another lackluster outing on Monday (3.2 IP, 8 H, 2 BB, 2 R, 2 ER).

Yakult Swallows

Shinichi Takeuchi recorded a pinch-hit grand slam in the 6th inning of Moday's game against Chunichi.  The grand slam was the first of his career.  It was also: the first pinch-hit grand slam since Hisayoshi Chono on October 22, 2011 and the first Yakult pinch-hit grand slam since Yuji Ono on August 10, 1996.  Six Yakult players have recorded seven pinch-hit grand slams in franchise history.

Hanshin Tigers

On Monday, Atsushi Nomi recorded a complete game victory against Yomiuri and hit the first home run of his professional career (the last home run he hit was during his second year of high school).  The last Tiger pitcher to hit a home run and toss a complete game against the Giants was Chikafusa Ikeda in 1984.

The last Hanshin pitcher to hit a home run was Ryan Vogelsong on July 29, 2008.  The last left-handed Hanshin pitcher was Koji Nakada on June 11, 1987.  Nakada was also the last pitcher to hit a home run and toss a complete game victory.

Kosuke Fukudome sat out the last three games because he twisted his right ankle during an at bat against Yakult on the 3rd.  There is a chance he could be taken off the active roster.

Team president Nobuo Minami left for the US on the April 28 and returned to Japan on Monday.  He visited the West Coast during his stay in the US and checked on a number of MLB facilities.  There is a chance the team may have also looked into some player candidates.
