Yomiuri Giants

Shigeo Nagashima showed up for Ni-gun workouts at the old Tamagawa grounds earlier today.  About 500 fans and 100 members of the media were also on hand.

Chunichi Dragons

Motonobu Tanishige is one hit away from becoming the third player in NPB history to record 1,000 or more hits with two different teams -- 1,002 hits with Yokohama and 999 with Chunichi.

Kazuki Yoshimi could end up missing the entire season (or a large portoin of it) if it turns out that he needs surgery on his right elbow.  The option to go under the knife was on the table last year, but Yoshimi went with rehab instead.  He has had two operations on his right elbow in the past.

Brooks Conrad played in a Ni-gun game against Chunichi on Wednesday.  He started at third and batted third.  He went 2-for-3 with two walks, one strikeout, and a three-run homer in the 4th inning.
