According to Nikkan Sports, 1st round draft pick Shohei Otani will likely pitch in Ni-gun game against Seibu on the 16th and Yokohama on the 24th (both games at Kamagaya).

Sponichi has a slightly different schedule for Otani: he will pitch in a Ni-gun game against Lotte at Kamagaya on the 17th and could make his Ichi-gun debut as a pitcher during a two game series against Chunichi at Sapporo Dome that begins on the 31st.

Otani could make both the Ichi-gun and Ni-gun All-Star rosters -- while he will be ineligible for the Ni-gun All-Star roster if he gets voted onto the Ichi-gun All-Star roster by fans, he will remain eligible for both if he makes the Ichi-gun All-Star roster through player voting or manager selection.

Brian Wolfe (sinusitis) may not be able to return to the active roster this month -- the Fighters initially thought he might be able to recover in about a week, but it now seems like it might take three weeks.  The team could call on pitchers like Masaru Nakamura or 3rd round draft pick Yohei Kagiya to fill in for Wolfe.

Seibu Lions

The Lions have not set their closer and will likely use a combination that includes Tatsuya OishiDennis Sarfate, and Yataro Sakamoto.

Softbank Hawks

Sho Iwasaki was taken off the active roster on the 4th with fatigue-induced pain his right elbow.  He tossed his first bullpen session since then on Friday -- he threw twenty-five pitches to a standing catcher.  Assuming no problems, he might be able to return to the active roster in time for a game against Hiroshima at Mazda Stadium on the 14th.

Iwasaki is scheduled to toss another bullpen session today and will pitch one inning in a Ni-gun rehab game against Hanshin on Sunday.
