An NPB meeting was held in Tokyo earlier today. A number of issues were discussed, including, but not limited to:
- An agreement was reached to place a firm ban on players playing catch in the area in front of the dugout during the game. The change will go into effect next season. A trial run will begin at Ni-gun after the All-Star break this season.
- Discussions about the CL's suggestion to decrease Inter-league games from twenty-four to eighteen will continue since the two sides could not reach a compromise -- the PL does not want decrease the number of games.
- The Yomiuri Giants announced that they were discussing plans with the Hanshin Tigers to open the 2014 season in the US.
The Yakult Swallows raised the issue of dangerous collision plays at home plate during today's Central League meeting. The team has already lost two catchers -- Ryoji Aikawa and Masahiko Tanaka -- to injuries that were sustained during collision plays at home plate.
