Tetsuya Utsumi threw fifty-two pitches in the bullpen on Friday.  He is slated to start Sunday's game against Orix.

Soichiro Tateoka will be listed as a switch-hitter instead of a right-handed hitter.  Tateoka has been swinging the bat from the left side because of a left elbow injury.

On Thursday, Hisayoshi Chono became the thirtieth player (accomplished thirty-five times) in NPB history to record lead-off home runs in two or more consecutive games.

The NPB record for consecutive lead-off home runs is three and was set by Hiromi Matsunaga in 1992 (August 20-22).

Chunichi Dragons

Shinji Tajima joined the Ichi-gun team for workouts at Nagoya Dome on Friday.  It is uncertain if he will be added to the active roster on Saturday.  Tajima was taken off the active roster on the 14th to get extra work at Ni-gun.

Hiroyasu Tanaka was taken off the active roster on Friday due to his struggles at the plate.

Kosuke Fukudome's (left knee) rehab/workouts at Naruohama on Friday included walking outdoors for about twenty minutes, playing catch at a distance of about sixty meters, and lower body strengthening exercises.

Takeshi Hidaka was taken off the active roster on Friday with an injury to his left index finger.  Hidaka suffered the injury while catching a pitch during a game against Lotte at QVC Marine on the 22nd.
