The Japan High School Baseball Federation held a meeting on Friday. A number of issues were discussed/decided, among them:
- Munemoto Nakai (Hachinohe Gakuin Kosei manager) and Tatsuji Shimada (Kochi manager) were named coaches for the national high school team that will be competing at the 18U World Cup tournament later this year.
- Kokutai games that are tied after nine innings were decided by drawing lots. Beginning with this year's Tokyo Kokutai, games will go into extra innings using tie-break rules -- bases loaded with one out. There will be no extra innings for the Finals -- tie-game after nine innings will end with both teams as winners.
- They would like the Japan Student Baseball Association to remove the "two or more years of teaching experience at the junior high, high school level" requirement that is needed when former professional players wish to re-earn their Student Baseball License as teachers.
