Seibu Lions

Yasuhiro Tanaka was involved in a minor car accident on Sunday at around 7:30am -- inside the Iogi Tunnel on Kanjo Route 8 near Nerima, Tokyo, he rear-ended a car that was stopped due to traffic.  A man in his forties suffered a minor neck injury as a result of the collision.

Tanaka was reportedly trying to switch lanes at the time and was paying too much attention to the cars behind him instead of in front of him.

Softbank Hawks

Shota Takeda was taken off the active roster on the 22nd to work through some issues at Ni-gun and because of concern about his right shoulder.  As a precaution, Takeda had the shoulder examined at a hospital on the 24th and cleared of any problems.  There is no timetable for his return to the active roster.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Eight double plays were recorded in Sunday's Lotte-Yokohama game -- five by Lotte and three by Yokohama.  Two other teams have hit into five double plays during Inter-league games: Lotte on May 13, 2005 vs Yakult; and Seibu on on May 22, 2011 vs Hanshin.  The eight in one game broke the previous record of seven set by Lotte and Yakult on May 13, 2005.

The all-time NPB record for most double plays by one team in a game, since the start of the two league format, is six, accomplished six times in the CL and ten times in the PL.  The most in one game was nine, set on March 31, 1954 between Nishitetsu (six) and Takahashi (three).
