Masahiro Yamamoto is currently slated to return to the active roster for the Rakuten series at Kleenex Stadium that begins on June 2.

Yamamoto started a Ni-gun game against Softbank on the 26th and gave up eight runs on nine hits and four walks over 3.2 innings of work.

There was talk about Yamamoto making it back to the active roster for the Nippon Ham series (May 31-June 1), but Shinji Iwata and Soma Yamauchi are currently scheduled to get those starts.

Part of the reason why the team decided to pass on Jesus Colome may have been because they were still concerned about his suspension last year.  He did take a test in Japan, but not to the standards of the NPB -- there are no testing organizations in Japan that were able to run all the necessary tests for just one player.

"[Colome's] tests for illegal substances came back negative.  However, we could not find a hospital that could check for doping substances," said team official Norihito Nishiwaki.

Hiroshima Carp

Kyohei Nakamura was late to workouts at Mazda Stadium on Monday.  Practices were supposed to start at 11:00am, but the schedule was moved up an hour the day before and Nakamura forgot.  He was reportedly offered two options -- a demotion to Ni-gun or a 100,000 yen fine -- and opted for the latter.

Hanshin Tigers

While the Tigers plan to continue using Yasutomo Kubo as their closer, they are also open to making changes if necessary.  One option could be Blaine Boyer.  However, the coaches are in no rush and will wait to see how Boyer does before making any decisions.

Kosuke Fukudome's (left knee) recovery continues to drag out -- as of Monday, he was still not able to run.  There is a good chance he will not be able to return to the active roster until after Inter-league play.
