Yomiuri Giants

1st round draft pick Tomoyuki Sugano threw sixty-five pitches in the bullpen at Giants Stadium on Thursday.  He is scheduled to start a game on June 1 against Lotte at QVC Marine.

Hirokazu Sawamura will stop working with weights for the time being because the Giants feel it might be hurting him on the mound -- the added muscle might be helping him with his velocity, but could be hampering the flexibility he needs to keep his mechanics flowing properly.

The city of Sakura in Chiba has decided to present Shigeo Nagashima with their Citizens' Honor Award.  Nagashima was also named an honorary citizen of Sakura in 2002.

Chunichi Dragons

Morimichi Takagi reportedly asked the team interpreter to take the foreign players to Susukino, Sapporo's entertainment district, after workouts on Thursday.  The Dragons are currently in Sapporo for a two-game series against Nippon Ham.

Yakult Swallows

Chris Leroux is currently scheduled to make his Ichi-gun debut on June 2 against Lotte at QVC Marine.  Leroux has pitched in two tune-up Ni-gun games and given up four runs (all earned) on eleven hits and five walks over seven innings of work.  He has also struck out two.
