John Bowker (coming back from fracture in right pinky) could return to the active roster as early as the 5th, vs Nippon Ham at Tokyo Dome.

Yakult Swallows

Chris Leroux committed three balks in Sunday's game against Lotte -- two in the 2nd inning and one in the 7th.  Three balks in one game and two balks in one inning tied CL records.

Hanshin Tigers

The Tigers moved into first place on Sunday for the first time since April 19, 2012.  The last time they were in first place in or after June was on September 9, 2010.  They fell out of first tonight with a loss.

Blaine Boyer tossed situational batting practice at Naruohama on Sunday  He faced five hitters, threw twenty pitches (eleven for balls; seventeen fastballs, three curves), gave up one hit, struck out one, and walked two: Tetsuya Sakaguchi F7, Kentaro Sekimoto BB, Yusuke Kuroda Ks, Masaki Anada BB, Sakaguchi 1B9.

Boyer was originally slated to face four hitters, but ended up facing five because he walked two.

Pitching coach Kiyooki Nakanishi on Boyer: "We received a report that he threw the ball well.  He will pitch in a game next.  But if he does not get his work visa, he will pitch situational batting practice again.  Otherwise, he could pitch in an Ikusei game as early as the 5th.

Boyer got his work visa today.  He is scheduled to make his debut during an Ikusei game against the Kagawa Olive Guyners (Island League) on the 5th. If he pitches well, he could make the active roster on the 6th (vs Seibu at Koshien).
