Yomiuri Giants

John Bowker is set to join the Ichi-gun team on Wednesday.  Whether or not he makes the active roster will depend on how he looks during pre-game workouts.

Chunichi Dragons

The Dragons announced that Kazuki Yoshimi had surgery on his right elbow today.  There were no complications during the procedure.  He will be discharged from the hospital on the 7th.

Yakult Swallows

When Masaya Emura faced his younger brother Naoya during Monday's game against Lotte, they became the first siblings to face each other since Yao-Hsun Yang and Dai-Kang Yoh on August 8, 2012.  The last Japanese siblings to face each other was Tsutomu Yamada and Hiroshi Yamada (both pitchers) on July 16,1998.  The last pitcher/position player match-up between Japanese siblings was Shoji Sadaoka and Tetsuhisa Sadaoka on April 21, 1983 and September 17, 1984.

Hiroshima Carp

Brad Eldred (was out with a fracture in his right pinky) is scheduled to return to the active roster in time for the Lotte series that begins on Wednesday.

Kenta Maeda played some light catch at a distance of about thirty meters on Monday.  The chief trainer told reporters that Maeda no longer feels any pain in his right side and should be ready to ramp up his workouts.  The Carp still believe Maeda will be able to return in the minimum ten days.

Naoto Tsuru could be sent down to Ni-gun after giving up four consecutive doubles in the 5th inning against the Softbank Hawks on Monday.

1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami could become the first rookie pitcher to make the All-Star roster with fan votes since Tadashi Settsu in 2009.  He would also become just the sixth rookie pitcher drafted out of high school to make the All-Star roster with fan votes.  The other five: Takao Kajimoto (1954), Yukio Ozaki (1962), Koji Ota (1970), Daisuke Matsuzaka (1999), and Masahiro Tanaka (2007).

FYI: Four rookie position players drafted out of high school have made the All-Star roster with fans votes: Kihachi Enomoto (at first base in 1955), Kohei Shimamoto (at first base in 1971), Kazuhiro Kiyohara (at first base in 1986), and Kazuyoshi Tatsunami (at short in 1988).

Yokohama Bay Stars

Japanese reggae band Shonan-no Kaze is scheduled to perform a mini concert before a game against Hanshin on June 23.  Band member Red Rice will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
