Ishikawa Million Stars' manager Shinji Mori (38) was added to the BC League's active player registry today. He will officially become a manager/pitcher beginning on Saturday.
Mori was drafted out of the Industrial League by the Seibu Lions in 1996. After the 2005 season, he was posted to the Majors but never managed to pitch in a regular season MLB game because he tore his right labrum before the 2006 season and was subsequently released, re-signed to a minor league deal, and then released again. He returned to Japan and signed with Ishikawa as a pitcher/pitching coach in 2009, but never pitched in a game. In 2010, he took on the role of manager and retired as a player.
