Saito threw forty-four pitches during batting practice today.  He faced Toshinori Asanuma and Go Matsumoto.  It was the first time he faced live hitters since November 1, 2012.

The Fighters will celebrate 1st round draft pick Shohei Otani's nineteenth birthday on July 5 by hosting a Players Special Day for him.  The first 20,000 fans will receive a free Otani player pouch.  Limited edition merchandise will also be available: tote bags, key chains, mugs, straps, and charms.

The last Seibu pitcher to record a no-hitter: Hisanobu Watanbe on June 11, 1996.

Takumi Kuriyama, Hideto Asamura, and Ryan Spilborghs went yard in the 6th inning of Wednesday's game against Chunichi.  It was the first time three Lions connected for home runs in the same inning for the first time since July 3, 2010 (Hiroyuki Nakajima, Dee Brown, and Hiroshi Hirao).
