The media learned on Monday that Toin High School in Hita, Oita withdrew all thirty-five of their second-year students from the Oita Tournament that begins on July 6 after they learned second-year students were beating first-year students. The Japan High School Baseball Federation issued a stern warning to the high school on the 12th.
According to Toin High School, on May 27 and June 1, nine second-year students confronted three first-year students for not following dorm rules and for bad behavior. The second-year students punished the first-year students by having them sit on the ground while they struck their faces and heads. The incidents took place at various locations like the baseball team dormitory and training facilities.
The school learned of the incidents when the first-year students approached a teacher on the 2nd. The nine second-year students were handed indefinite suspensions.
