Nippon Ham Fighters

1st round draft pick Shohei Otani has a shot at making the starting rotation if he pitches well during his next start on the 26th against Softbank (at Tokyo Dome).  If he does make the rotation, he will most likely get starts on six days of rest.

Otani was left out of the starting line-up today because this was his day to work out as a pitcher.  He threw eighty-three pitches in the bullpen during pre-game practices.

Otani will begin wearing a protector for his right hand when he bats (similar to what Yokohama's Tony Blanco uses).

Softbank Hawks

The Hawks had transportation problems today: The bus that was supposed to take the team from the hotel to Kleenex Stadium got caught in some traffic.  Team officials called thirty cabs because they were not sure if the bus was going to make it in time.  The bus ended up arriving at the hotel at the time it was supposed to depart.  The players had already left on the taxis.  The coaches took the bus to the stadium.

Chiba Lotte Marines

Seth Greisinger is currently scheduled to start a game during an Orix series that begins on the 25th.  Greisinger has struggled with injuries this season.  This may be his last chance to prove he is healthy and ready to contribute.
