Yomiuri Giants

Dennis Houlton was taken off the active roster to get for some additional work in at Ni-gun.  Satoshi Fukuda was also be taken off the active roster.  Manny Acosta will most likely be called up.

Chunichi Dragons

Shinji Tajima is scheduled to start a Ni-gun game against Orix on Tuesday.  It will be his first start since turning pro.

Tajima usually pitches in relief but is getting a start for extra work.

Masahiro Yamamoto became the sixth pitcher in NPB history to start 500 games.  He also moved into sole possession of sixteen on the all-time wins list with 216.  Over his career, he is 42-44 against the Yomiuri Giants.

Yakult Swallows

Wladimir Balentien recorded his ninth home run of the month on Sunday and set a new personal career high for most home runs hit in a month.  Akinori Iwamura and Adam Riggs are the last Yakult players to hit ten or more home runs in one month -- they both hit twelve in August 2006.  The franchise record of thirteen was set by Jack Howell in August 1992.  The NPB record of sixteen was set by Hiromitsu Kadota (July 1981), Akira Eto (August 1994), and Shinnosuke Abe (April 2004).

Hiroshima Carp

Shota Dobayashi recorded the first walk-off hit of his career on Sunday: down a run in the 9th with a runner on second one one out, he hit a home run to left.

Hanshin Tigers

Minoru Iwata started a Ni-gun game against Orix on Sunday and gave up five runs on five hits and two walks over five innings of work.  All five runs crossed the plate in the 1st inning.  He also struck out one.
