Yomiuri Giants

Tetsuya Utsumi's right ankle sprain was not as bad as the team initially feared.  He will continue to travel with the team and might be ok to make his next start during a Hanshin series that begins on July 2.  The team will continue to monitor his ankle and will make a decision on his status based on how he feels over the next few days.

Chunichi Dragons

Yohei Oshima was feeling better after getting electro-therapy treatment on his left elbow in Gifu on Tuesday.  He rejoined the team in Kanazawa today and was able to play catch at a distance of about thirty meters.  He also took some batting practice and managed to get through a regular practice schedule.  While the elbow may be feeling ok, he most likely would not have played in tonight's game had it not been rained out.

"I started feeling something around the evening of the 24th.  But it is fine.  I am at about eighty percent today," said Oshima.

Brad Bergesen had his right index finger examined at a hospital in Kanzawa today.  According to the team trainer, the swelling was caused by an infected hangnail.  He was given antibiotics and should see improvement over the next two to three days.
