The Giants also pulled off two double-steals in the 8th inning on Tuesday, a league first since Yakult accomplished it in the 9th inning of a game against Hanshin on July 17, 2008 and a franchise first since May 16, 1937.  The team has pulled off two double-steals in one game more recently: August 15, 1985 vs Hanshin (1st and 4th innings).

Yakult Swallows

The players and coaches are uncertain why smoking was raised as a concern during a stockholders meeting on Tuesday -- the team has a no smoking rule on buses when they travel and smokers are limited to smoking in sections where permitted.  None of the players have broken any rules.

"While it is true [smoking] is not good for you, we have no data that connects it to poor performance so I do not know what to say.  It is a matter of personal choice and is not something we can decide unconditionally," said Junji Ogawa.

Hiroshima Carp

Kila Ka'aihue joined the Ichi-gun team for practices on Tuesday.  He will continue working out with the Ichi-gun team through to the 27th.  He will then return to Ni-gun on the 28th for a three-game series against Hanshin.
