Notes

General: A re-opening ceremony for Kusangi Stadium took place before the game -- fairly major renovations (outfield seats, new scoreboard, larger outfield, new monument) were made to the stadium during the off-season.  Shizuoka governor Heita Kawakatsu, Shizuoka mayor Nobuhiro Tanabe, and Eiji Sawamura's oldest daughter Mio Sakai participated in the festivities.  Kawakatsu threw out the ceremonial first pitch; Tanabe acted as home plate ump.  Source: Sports Hochi 6/30/2013

Yomiuri: The Giants have lost two in a row. ... Sawamura lost his first game in four starts since his last loss on May 29 (vs Softbank).  In between losses, he went 2-0 in three starts. ... Abe's hitting streak ended at seven games.  Chono extended his hitting streak to eight games. ... Y. Takahashi returned to the line-up for the first time since April 4 (vs Yokohama).

Yakult: The Swallows have won their last four games against the Giants. ... Ogawa is 3-0 in three starts since his last loss on June 8 (vs Nippon Ham).  He is also 2-0 in two starts against Yomiuri this year.  He is 6-0 in eight night game starts. ... T. Yamamoto became the first pitcher in franchise history to record at least ten saves in a season since Shingo Takatsu notched thirteen in 2007. ... Milledge extended his hitting streak to eight games.
