Nippon Ham Fighters

1st round draft pick Shohei Otani pitching schedule is not set after his start against Softbank at YafuOku Dome on Thursday.  Hideki Kuriyama is apparently concerned about the rookie's level of fatigue.

Thursday's start will be Otani's last at the age of eighteen -- he turns nineteen on the 5th.

The Hawks want to give Kodai Senga some rest and plan to use Ryota Igarashi as their primary closer.

Igarashi will be the team's fourth closer this season (Brian Falkenborg, Sho Iwasaki, and Senga).

Rakuten Eagles

Masahiro Tanaka set a new personal and franchise record by extending his streak of consecutive shutout innings to thirty-one.  His previous personal high of twenty-six consecutive scoreless innings was set last year between August and September.  The previous franchise record of 27.2 innings was set by Kazuo Fukumori in 2006.
