The NPB informed reporters today the third-party standard baseball investigation committee is planning to submit their final report during an owner meeting on September 19. NPB commissioner Ryozo Kato is expected to attend the meeting.
Kato spoke to reporters again today and reiterated his plan to cooperate with the committee during their investigations. With regards to Tsuneo Watanabe's (Yomiuri Giants' chairman) comments about wanting to make Sadaharu Oh the next commissioner, he said, "I have heard about it in the news. There is nothing I can say about it at this time."
The third party committee officially began their investigations on Tuesday at the NPB offices.
Softbank Hawks' director Koichiro Takada seemed uncertain about what to think about Watanabe's comments about making Oh the next commissioner and said to reporters on Tuesday, "There is not really much we can say about it. ... I have seen the comments in the media. ... Nothing has been brought up in the organization and chairman Oh has not mentioned anything. I can not speak in hypotheticals."
