The steering committee for the Spring Koshien met in Osaka today to decided that thirty-two schools will compete in next year's tournament.
Twenty-eight schools will be selected from eight major regions -- Hokkaido (one), Tohoku (two), Kanto/Tokyo (six), Tokai (two), Hokushinetsu (two), Kinki (six), Chugoku/Shikoku (five), and Kyushu (four). There will be three twenty-first century slots and one Jingu Tournament slot.
Four additional schools competed at this year's tournament to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the event.
