Yomiuri Giants

The inflammation in Shinnosuke Abe right side is not severe enough to warrant a removal from the active roster.  He missed his first game of the year tonight.

Hanshin Tigers

Kosuke Fukudome took fifty-seven swings during outdoor batting practice at Naruohama on Wednesday.  He took twenty-nine swings against a pitching machine (fastballs) and hit three over the fence.  He took twenty-eight swings against a right-handed batting practice pitcher and hit baseballs to the opposite direction.  Four minutes each, eight minutes in total.

Wednesday's workout schedule also included jogging, side-step exercises, short dashes, and grounders at second.

Fukudome's rehab has been going well -- if things continue to progress at the same pace, he might be able to return to the active roster some time in August, about a month earlier than initially expected.

Seibu Lions

Koji Yamasaki was replaced by a pinch-runner in the 2nd inning of tonight's game against Orix because of pain in his left ankle.  Yamasaki originally hurt the ankle during a game against Rakuten on June 27.  He was examined at a hospital in Osaka; no problems were found.
