Kenta Abe recorded a victory on Wednesday, his first in 3,580 days.  While Tomokazu Oka's holds the NPB record at 5,847 days, Abe is the only one of the two that did it while spending the entire time in the NPB.  The previous NPB only high was 3,507 days by Shoji Toyama.

According to Sponichi, 1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami could end up making a relief in appearance before his next start -- his start on Wednesday was canceled due to rain and he is not scheduled to start another game until an upcoming Yokohama series that begins on the 12th.

Nikkan Sports feels the Tigers could use this extra time to give Fujinami a chance to re-group by taking him off the active roster.

Sports Hochi thinks the Tigers are taking advantage of the rain-out to Wednesday to keep Fujinami away from the Giants until the second-half.  They also think the team is taking things easy with him to make sure he is 100% for the second-half.

Minoru Iwata started a Ni-gun game against Chunichi on Wednesday and gave up seven runs on eight hits over four innings of work.  He also hit two and struck out seven.

According to Sanspo, yesterday's rain-out may have cost the Tigers over 100 million yen in potential revenue (includes ticket sales and TV broadcast rights).

The Tigers are thinking about signing a deal with a new data company that can provide the team with a lot more stats than they currently have.

"The amount of data we have right now pales in comparison to what this America-style computer system contains.  For example, we can immediately call up footage on a slider at a specific count thrown to a specific location," said an unnamed team source.

The new system will cost about thirty million yen.  The Yomiuri Giants are also reported to be interested in the new system.
