Wladimir Balentien, Yakult Swallows (Third Time)

Collected hits in thirteen of seventeen hits.  Had eight multi-hit games.  Only player in either league to reach double-digits in home runs.

Atsushi Nomi, Hanshin Tigers (Fourth Time)
4 G, 3-1, 1 ShO, 34.1 IP, 22 K, 4 ER, 1.05 ERA

Second award in as many months.  First pitcher since Jason Standridge (June and July 2011) to win the award in consecutive months.  Recorded three straight complete games.  Was on pace to record a fourth until he took a batted ball off his leg in the 8th inning with one out.

Pacific League

Nihon Seimei MVP Awards

Yuya Hasegawa, Softbank Hawks (First Time)
19 G, 34-for-78, 3 HR, 16 RBI, .436 BA

Collected multiple hits in eleven of nineteen games.  Led the league in batting average (.436), on-base percentage (.471) and hits (thirty-four, tied with teammate Nobuhiro Matsuda).  Second in slugging percentage (.628) and third in total bases (forty-nine, tied).

Masahiro Tanaka, Rakuten Eagles (Ninth Time)
4 G, 3-0, 1 ShO, 32.0 IP, 18 K, 1 ER, 0.28 ERA

Ichiro Suzuki holds the PL record for most MVP of the Month awards with ten.  Nine players in the PL have now won MVP of the Month awards in consecutive months.  Tanaka is the first to have done it twice (June and July 2011 and May and June 2013).
