Yomiuri Giants

The Giants recorded a 1-0 victory at Koshien on Thursday for the first time since April 19, 2002 (extra innings), or June 12, 1988 (nine-inning game).  It was the third time this season multiple pitchers combined for a 1-0 win, a first since 1994.

The bullpen has not allowed a run over its last 23.1 innings of work (through Thursday).

1st round draft pick Shintaro Fujinami's next start could come on July 7th against Hiroshima at Mazda Stadium.  Takumi Akiyama was slated to get the start on the 7th, but the team will most likely go with Fujinami.  The move would allow the rookie to return to his regular Sunday starts.

Akiyama will most likely head to the bullpen.

The Tigers made a mistake with a roster move on Thursday: they meant to add Takashi Shimizu to the active roster, but instead accidentally called up Daiki Kiyohara.

Shimizu joined the Ichi-gun team for practices on Thursday and was ready to play.  Kiyohara was down at Naruohama and had to rush to Koshien after Ni-gun workouts ended around 3:45pm.

Teams provide the NPB with roster changes using an online form that contains check boxes next to player names.  Included with each name is the player's position and uniform number.

The mistake was corrected today -- Shimizu was called up and Kiyohara was sent down.
