    Gen,

For the first time since 2000, I was able to watch a Japanese baseball game in its entirety. I believe this was also the first time I saw a Japanese baseball pitcher pitched a complete game shutout.

Is Ogawa that good? I could research on the subject, but I like asking questions for better correspondence. I first noticed it that there is some pre-game hoopla regarding him and I must say he did not disappoint.

After Lastings Milledge walked, Balentien homered to left to give Ogawa all the runs he needed.

I must say Ogawa got plenty of breaks in the last three innings. THe turning point was when he escaped a bases loaded no out situation in the 7th. The n he induced two two double plays in the last two innings.

I saw Tanishige writhing in pain after the foul bunt of Ogawa. As I explained to her, baseball players wear protective cups in the groin area. Unfortunately the ball came from underneath and therefore hit him there. I was happy for him that he was able to complete the game.

The first Japanese Series game I saw was the opening game of the 1995 series when Yakult Swallows defeated the then Orix Blue Wave. Bambam Meulens played for Yakult and Orix had Ichiro (of course!), Troy Neel, DJ (Dave Jennings), So Iguchi and Baba.

Yakult is also popular here in the Philippines. Many Filipinos drink it for better digestion. Here, the slogan used for Yakult is “Lacto-bacilli, Shirota strain!”
