Rakuten Eagles' acting owner Tomoharu Inoue told reporters today that he plans to bring up issues with the current commissioner system -- terms, qualifications, rules -- at the next owner meeting on the 10th. NPB commissioners have a two-year term. Current commissioner Ryozo Kato is in the middle of a third term. Two teams (Rakuten and Orix) were against the decision, but they flipped their votes with the understanding that rules governing the position would later be discussed and clarified.
Inoue also told reporters that Rakuten Eagles' owner Hiroshi Mikitani is planning to attend the meeting on Wednesday in order to discuss compliance and governance problems surrounding the new standard baseball. It is possible Mikitani might push for Kato to re-sign.
