The NPB held an executive committee meeting today in Tokyo and decided not to make any changes to the Inter-league schedule for the 2014 season. Changes are still being considered for future seasons.
The Central League was interested in shortening the IL schedule from twenty-four games to eighteen games per team. The Pacific League did not want any changes to be made. The NPB Project Promotion Committee stepped in to help settle matters. They provided the executive committee with a total four options during today's meeting -- the original twenty-four game schedule, the CL's eighteen-game schedule, and two modified twenty-four game schedules. The CL and PL remained split and it was decided to keep the original twenty-four game schedule for the 2014 season while leaving the door open for change beyond that.
