1st round draft pick Shohei Otani recorded his first hit with the bases loaded on Sunday: a three-run double to left-center.  It was also the first multi-RBI at bat of his career.  Prior to the at bat, he was 0-for-3 with one RBI in bases loaded situations this year.

Other interesting stats: he is 7-for-14 when he swings at the first pitch ... thirteen of his twenty-five hits are doubles ... the NPB record for doubles by a player out of high school in his first year since the start of the two leagues is twenty-four by Kihachi Enomoto in 1955; the franchise record of eighteen was set by Isao Harimoto in 1959; thirteen ties the record Shoichi Busujima set in 1954 for second on the franchise list.

Rakuten Eagles

On Sunday, Hiroaki Shimauchi joined Manabu Satake (2005) and Kensuke Uchimura (2011) as the only players in franchise history to record inside-the-park home runs.

The Eagles became the first team to record a grand slam and inside-the-park home run in the same game since Orix on August 25, 2002 -- Tatsuya Shindo with an inside-the-park home run in the 3rd and Ryota Aikawa with a grand slam in the 4th.
